St. Clair County RESA, in preparation for the opening of the Severely Emotionally Impaired Creekside Learning Center, have developed a training to discuss and review elements related to an Emotionally Impaired Certification. The guidelines align with the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Act and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education. We will review the process for conducting an evaluation, discuss the MET and discuss next steps. We will also give an overview of the program that will start in the Fall of 2024-2025. 1.) Participants will discuss the process for determining eligibility under the category of Emotionally Impaired; 2.) Participants will explore the components of the process and identify strengths and challenges; 3.) Participants will discuss and walk through scenarios to clarify learning.
This training is for special education directors, teacher consultants, school psychologists, school social workers and other participants as needed.
