Teachers will understand how trauma impacts learning and behaviors and will understand difficult behaviors and how to prevent and address these challenges.
Teachers will understand their responsibilities when teaching students with special needs including topics such as Child Find, IEPs, 504 plans, integration, paraprofessionals, and co-teaching.
Teachers will understand the difference between group work and cooperative learning in the classroom. Participants will learn strategies for facilitating whole-group, small-group, and paired discussions. Strategies for creating equal accountability and engagement for all students in thinking, processing, and making meaning will be shared.
Teachers will learn strategies to ensure all students are engaged and actively participating in meaningful student-led conversations for deeper learning. Teachers will view strategies, including Talk Moves, in practice in real classrooms. Teachers will walk away with their own Talk Moves kit.
