St. Clair County RESA has developed a training to discuss and review the newly developed ASD Eligibility Guidance document created by the ASD Eligibility Guidance Document Committee. The guidelines align with the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Act and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education. We will review the process for conducting an evaluation, discuss the MET and discuss next steps. 1.) Participants will discuss Federal IDEA and State MARSE law as it pertains to ASD eligibility criteria ; 2.) Participants will discuss what qualitative impairments in social interaction and reciprocity, communication and restricted, repetitive, stereotyped behaviors may manifest for students suspected of ASD 3.) Participants will discuss and walk through the team approach to determining ASD eligibility through an evaluation and data collection process.
This training is for special education directors, teacher consultants, school psychologists, speech language pathologists, school social workers and other participants as needed.
