Developing Executive Function Skills: A Therapeutic Approach Across the Developmental Span

Sarah Ward is the Co-Director of Cognitive Connections, LLP, and has built a career spanning over 25 years in diagnostic evaluations, treatment, and case management of individuals with developmental and acquired brain-based learning difficulties and behavioral problems.

This course introduces a therapeutic program developed by our clinic that (a) considers the core features of executive control which must be understood in order to effectively implement an executive function treatment model, (b) how we included those features into a treatment program that successfully teaches students to develop independent executive function skills, and (c) demonstrates how the model has been applied across the developmental age span.
Objectives:
Understand Executive Function Apply classroom interventions in executive function training Demonstrate 3 theories of executive function intervention Be able to locate additional supports for executive functions Understand at least 2 key components in working with students struggling with executive function skills
