Supporting Students Impacted by Trauma: Strategies from Parenting Children with Big, Baffling Behaviors

Class Description:
This class provides educators and school staff with an understanding of how trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) impact student behavior and academic performance. Drawing from the work of Robyn Gobbel and her book Parenting Children with Big, Baffling Behaviors, participants will explore research-based approaches to trauma-informed teaching. The course will cover the foundations of ACEs, the effects of trauma on learning, and the science of co-regulation. Educators will learn how to apply co-regulation strategies in the classroom and leave with at least three practical techniques to support students in moments of emotional dysregulation.
