Stress Reduction for those in the Schools and Human Services
Are you stressed out? Is the human services field, working with children and other people, overwhelming for you at times? Are you experiencing feelings of exhaustion, decreased motivation, or a hard time either falling asleep or staying asleep? If so, you're not alone AND research shows that these symptoms can be improved through developing a regular self-care routine.
St Clair County RESA will be launching a new course in Stress Reduction for educators and administrators. This course, also known as John Kabat Zinn’s Mindful Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), will focus on developing options for effective self-care routines through Mindfulness, Intentional Breathing or Breathwork, and Gentle Yoga.
MBSR is an evidence-based practice in addressing pain management and treatment for anxiety, thus being a valuable tool for those interested in careers relating to Social Work, Therapy, Psychology, Vocational Counseling, and Education.
Full completion of this course would earn 27.5 SCECHs for Teachers (20 hours towards Career Exploration SCECHs and 8 hours towards General SCECHs).
Participants will register to attend the Orientation and 9-session course, held at our SCC RESA Delaware EAST building. Address is 1111 Delaware Ave., Marysville, MI 48040.
