Dive into the fascinating world of vernal pools and the unique plants and animals that depend on
them. Through a blend of engaging indoor lessons and hands-on outdoor field studies, students
will explore our forest wetland, conducting real ecological surveys to determine whether it meets
the criteria of a true vernal pool. This immersive experience encourages curiosity, scientific
thinking, and a deeper appreciation for these important seasonal ecosystems.
Students should dress for the weather, bring tall rain boots or waders and extra clothes (in case
they get wet)! This program is designed for the students enrolled and parents do not stay.
Register early as this class has a max of 10 students.
